Background & Industry Experience

Shirley draws on more than 20 years of experience in leadership development, learning strategy, and talent management. At Cargill, she led the global leadership development strategy for a workforce of over 160,000, overseeing a $5M budget. Previously, she spent eight years at Yara International in Norway, where she developed a global coaching culture and launched large-scale Train-the-Trainer programs and leadership frameworks. At CCL, she facilitated programs across 15 industries and generated $6M in revenue. Shirley also brings operational experience from earlier roles at Volvo and in sales leadership. Her industry exposure includes food & agriculture, chemicals, education, transportation, and professional services.

She has successfully led large-scale initiatives, including training 4,900 leaders across four continents in just 10 months at Cargill, with a 98% satisfaction rate. Her approach integrates Train-the-Trainer programs, vendor partnerships, and regionally tailored solutions to reach diverse audiences while maintaining program quality and alignment with business priorities. At Yara International, she scaled development through a leadership competency framework, Train-the-Trainer sessions for 60+ facilitators, and custom programs that supported cultural transformation. Shirley’s designs are grounded in adult learning theory and business relevance, enabling organizations to drive measurable impact at scale.

  • Leadership Development Programs: Has worked with organizations to design and deliver leadership development workshops and more comprehensive multi-phase programs. Some examples include sessions focused on: self-awareness and appreciation of difference; change leadership; conflict competence; influence and leadership culture work. 
  • Executive Education Design: As Global Head of Leadership Development at Yara International ASA and Cargill, and as a faculty member at CCL, led the discovery and design of significant leadership development programs, often working with clients in national and global organizations across diverse industry sectors.  
  • Executive Education Delivery: Has delivered sessions ranging from 1 hour to week-long leadership programs, including multi-session delivery as part of a learning journey. Has facilitated sessions ranging from those focused on a single topic, such as feedback, to integrated leadership development sessions, designed to focus on several areas of relevance to a team or participants at a particular leader level in the organization.  
  • Teambuilding Events: With heads of business units and their teams in global manufacturing. Designed/facilitated one-day sessions with a focus on self-awareness, appreciation of difference and gaining clarity on the leadership culture needed to help the team collaborate and achieve its objectives. 
  • Coaching Culture and Coaching Skills Workshops: Designed and delivered coaching skills training to leaders, managers and HR professionals to help organizations build coaching cultures.
